Hostaway is seeking a highly experienced Staff Product Designer – Design Systems to own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and execution of its design system.

This is a 100% remote role for candidates based within the EMEA region. The successful candidate does not need to be located in Abuja specifically, but must be physically based within EMEA to collaborate effectively with teams, peers, and internal customers.

In this staff-level position, you will work closely with design and engineering teams to develop components, patterns, documentation, and workflows that improve product quality, consistency, and speed.

Requirements

Applicants should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in product design, with a strong track record of creating, scaling, and evolving design systems within product organizations.

Candidates should have proven experience defining design system strategy, setting direction, and successfully executing design system initiatives while balancing long-term goals with immediate product requirements.

The role requires strong product design skills and the ability to contribute to or own features across the full product development lifecycle.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, systems thinking, user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design.

A genuine interest in emerging technology and the application of AI in design workflows is important. Candidates should be willing to experiment with new tools and methodologies.

Strong technical knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React is required. Experience with component-based architecture is an added advantage.

Candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with engineers and develop workflows that bring design and front-end teams closer together.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and strategic thinking skills.

Experience with tools such as Figma and AI tools including Claude Code is relevant to the role.
