As part of its expansion, the company is seeking a suitable candidate for the position of Digital News and Social Media Content/Editor to support its digital news operations.

The successful candidate will manage content for the company’s news and entertainment magazine while also supporting the group’s corporate social media accounts.

This is a remote, full-time, and permanent opportunity for an individual with strong writing, editing, research, and social media skills.

Requirements

Applicants should preferably have at least 2 years of work experience in content creation, editing, copywriting, journalism, digital media, or a related role.

An undergraduate educational background is preferred, alongside strong research, writing, editing, and information-management abilities.

Candidates should be able to thoroughly edit copy under tight deadlines while identifying mistakes, errors, spelling issues, and other inconsistencies.

Previous experience updating websites, editing news content, and managing digital information is required for the position.

Applicants should have good knowledge of WordPress and Adobe software for updating, editing, and publishing digital content.

The successful candidate should have excellent verbal communication skills combined with strong research abilities and excellent written communication.

Strong knowledge of social media platforms, particularly Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, is also required.

Candidates should be organised, creative, and capable of producing accurate content quickly, especially when working with breaking news and tight publishing deadlines.

The role also requires someone who can contribute to content optimisation strategies, create SEO-driven content, and help improve website traffic and social media engagement.

Occasionally, the successful candidate may also work with the company’s web design and development team on website content creation and management.

Key Responsibilities

The Digital News and Social Media Content/Editor will research stories, source leads, develop creative content ideas, and produce articles across multiple subject areas.

The role will also involve copy editing stories, features, video descriptions, and interactive content to ensure that published materials meet high editorial standards.

The successful candidate will create digital content, write breaking news stories and headlines, and keep the company’s social media accounts regularly updated.

They will also contribute to social media strategies, content optimisation, SEO initiatives, and efforts to increase online traffic and audience engagement.
