Qimagination is looking for a reliable Freelance Article Writer to create engaging, accurate, human-written articles for Metaspoon, a digital media publisher focused on human-interest, viral, and social-media-driven stories.

The role is suitable for writers who can turn detailed outlines into polished articles while researching facts, sourcing images, following instructions, and maintaining a natural American English writing style.

Paid Trial

Selected applicants will complete a paid trial. The listing describes the trial as three articles, with each article typically requiring 1,200–2,000 words. However, the stated trial compensation is $18 CAD total for two articles, fixed regardless of the time required.

For each trial article, writers are expected to:

  • Turn a supplied outline into a polished article.
  • Write in natural, engaging American English.
  • Add personality while remaining faithful to the facts.
  • Identify and correct inaccurate, unsupported, repetitive, or unnatural material.
  • Source, insert, and credit relevant images, typically 21 or more images per article.
  • Follow all formatting and submission instructions.
  • Make reasonable corrections when requested.

The trial assesses writing quality, accuracy, research ability, judgment, and attention to detail. Completing the trial does not guarantee ongoing work or a specific number of assignments.

Ongoing Freelance Work

Writers who perform well may be offered ongoing work at $9 CAD per completed article. Depending on publishing needs and the writer’s availability, the role may involve producing multiple articles per day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn supplied AI-assisted outlines into original, publication-ready articles.
  • Write articles fully in your own words and voice.
  • Identify and correct inaccurate, unsupported, repetitive, or unnatural content.
  • Source, insert, and properly credit relevant images.
  • Format and submit articles according to instructions.
  • Flag unclear information, factual concerns, or other blockers promptly.
  • Incorporate editorial feedback and make requested revisions.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Strong English reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to write naturally in American English.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to consistently follow detailed instructions.
  • Familiarity with American pop culture, social media, and internet trends.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate clearly.
  • Comfort learning new tools and adapting to changing processes.
  • Experience with WordPress or another content management system.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Canva, or similar software.
  • Experience sourcing, crediting, and editing images.

English is required. WordPress experience of 1 year and Adobe Photoshop experience of 1 year are preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • History, human-interest, entertainment, news, or viral content writing.
  • Using tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini for research or editing assistance.
  • Trello or another project management platform.
  • Published writing samples or an online portfolio.

Application Task

Before applying, candidates must complete a short writing task. Applications that omit the task or fail to follow the instructions will be automatically rejected.

Write a 150–200-word summary of a trending story found on social media, such as Reddit.

The submission must:

  • Explain the story clearly and accurately.
  • End with a three-bullet takeaway summary.
  • Use American English spelling.
  • Include a link to the original source.
  • Include the word “sunflower” at the bottom.
  • Be submitted as a Word document named AIContentTest_[YourName].docx or as a Google Doc titled AIContentTest_[YourName].
  • Attach the Word document to the application or provide a shareable Google Doc link.
  • Confirm that anyone with the link can view the document.

AI tools may be used for research or editing assistance, but the finished submission must reflect the applicant’s own judgment and writing. Generic, inaccurate, fabricated, or minimally edited AI-generated content will not be accepted.

Important About the Work

Metaspoon will provide story outlines and production instructions. Writers are expected to write the articles in their own words, source and credit suitable images, and submit completed work through the company’s system.

Articles will undergo editorial review and may also be reviewed using AI-detection software. Accuracy, natural writing, careful instruction-following, and speed are important. Trial submissions determined through editorial review to be AI-generated or otherwise in violation of the assignment requirements will be rejected and will not qualify for payment.
